A 2-bar quote from Puccini's opera La fanciulla del West with signature in ink, on pale greenish paper, inscribed "a Mlle Renée Reiss."

Renée Reiss was the young daughter of the German-born tenor Albert Reiss, a house singer at the Met (1901-20). Puccini signed the little girl's autograph album during the world premiere of La fanciulla del West at the Met in late 1910. Albert Reiss created the role of Nick in the opera in the premiere performance on Dec. 10, 1910, with Enrico Caruso, Emmy Destinn and Pasquale Amato in the leading roles, with Arturo Toscanini conducting.
