A fifteen-and-a-half-bar quotation, undoubtedly from one of De Bériot's works and apparently written for the violin. Entitled over the quote is: Mr Ries 21 rue Tivoli. Written on the upper half of a piece of music paper with hand-drawn staves. The quote is elegantly triple matted in beige linen together with a rare original carte de visite photograph of De Bériot seated holding his violin.

A nice association between De Bériot, the great violinist and husband of the soprano Maria Malibran, and Ferdinand Ries, the pianist, composer, and friend of Beethoven.
