Matted Signature with Portrait.
"Samuel Dushkin". To Kenneth E. Kendall. New York, April 2, 1941. Total size in mat: 10" h x 8" w. In very good condition. Card evenly toned at left. Light crease at bottom of portrait. The Polish-American violinist has inscribed and signed a small card bearing his portrait, in which he is shown holding his violin. (The image is pasted down and likely taken from a magazine). A nice little presentation, matted in a simple brown mat. Uncommon.
Samuel Dushkin studied with Leopold Auer and Fritz Kreisler before making his European and American debuts. He helped Igor Stravinsky with his Violin Concerto and gave its premiere; a number of other collaborations between the two, including a violin transcription of Pulcinella, would follow. Dushkin also published many of his own arrangements and some original compositions.
