The piano music of Maria Szymanowska "occupies an important position in the history of Polish music before Chopin" (Grove VI). Szymanowska was also an important early collector. This volume contains portraits, facsimiles of letters and music by Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart, Paganini, Clara Schumann, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Moniuszko, etc. from her "Stammbuch" as well as ten of her own works.
