Born Johann Andreas Kauchlitz in Bohemia, Giovanni Andrea Collizzi became better known under his Italianized name. He was active in Leiden and The Hague from 1767 to c. 1790, and seems to have had a special interest in the Americas, with his first opus being titled Quattro concerti barbari, dedicati al Gran' Sole di Natchez, sulle rive del Mississipi [sic] and his only opera being Le français chez les hurons (now lost).
