His musical lending library was the first of its kind in Switzerland and figured among the earliest collections to provide access to Bach's lesser-known works. His musical correspondence included exchanges with major figures of his time, including Beethoven, Schubert, Weber, and Spohr.
This edition is especially interesting for its frequent and unusual notation of crescendi above the staves (see images).
