Elegantly boxed in 3/4 red leather with marbled boards, raised bands and gold tooling. Somewhat sprung, corners bumped, spine rubbed, covers slightly soiled; otherwise very good.

Very handsome printing with engraved vignettes at the head and end of each act. Each act preceded by a plot summary on a separate page with engraved designs. Madame Sans-Gêne, based on a play by Sardou and Moreau with a libretto by Renato Simoni, had its premiere at the Metropolitan in New York January 25, 1915, under the direction of Toscanini.
