José Iturbi was a noted pianist and harpsichordist, having studied both at the Paris Conservatoire and with renowned harpsichordist Wanda Landowska. He regularly performed as both a soloist and accompanist, and also held a number of conducting appointments in America and Mexico. Iturbi is perhaps best remembered, though, for his appearances in several MGM film musicals, including Thousands Cheer with Judy Garland and Anchors Aweigh with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly.
