Photograph Signed

The esteemed cellist is shown in profile while playing his instrument in this original black-and-white portrait photograph. In the white space below, he has signed and inscribed the image to Alan Levin, longtime program manager of WNYC Radio.
Pablo Casals' later years were filled with a variety of musical activities: he gave masterclasses around the world, performed at the White House at Kennedy's invitation in 1961, presented two of his compositions at the United Nations (first in 1963, the year of this inscription, and again in 1971), and conducted the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra just months before his death.
