Walter, Bruno (1876-1962)

Postcard Photograph Signed

"Bruno Walter". n.d. Postcard. In excellent condition.
A striking original profile portrait of the German conductor, which he signs in the bottom of the white margin. He also pens a two-bar musical quotation over the white collar of his shirt. A nice item.
Widely considered one of the greatest conductors of the twentieth century, Bruno Walter led the Leipzig Gewandhaus, New York Philharmonic, Salzburg Festival, Vienna State Opera, and Deutsche Oper Berlin. He was also Mahler's assistant, protégé, and close friend. When Mahler died in 1911, his widow Alma asked Walter to premiere both Das Lied von der Erde and the Ninth Symphony.
