Tcherepnin, Alexander (1899-1977)

Photograph Signed

"A. Tcherepnin". To Richard Miller. May 27, 1970. 8.25" h x 6" w. In excellent condition (top and right edges with two tiny chips). Ballpoint ink of inscription and signature a bit uneven, but still easily legible.
The Russian composer signs and inscribes an original glossy black-and-white photograph portrait of himself holding a cigarette. A striking image with a nice, if small, signature, written across his raised right hand.
Tcherepnin was a prolific Russian composer whose varietal output included symphonies, operas, ballets, songs, string quartets, chamber works, and a host of solo piano music. His father, Nikolai, had studied with Rimsky-Korsakov, and his son, Serge, was one of the earliest proponents of electronic music.
