A Cellist Gives His Best
Glasgow (?), 1891. Image size 7" h x 8" w. Decoratively matted with total dimension of 14.25" h x 13.25" w (36.2 cm x 33.7 cm). Pristine condition. A cellist intent on his instrument is surrounded by listeners while a somber waiter delivers a cup of tea. There are amusing touches such as the expression and posture of the waiter as well as the painting in the background showing only two feet.
A fine etching by the well-known Scottish painter and engraver William Strang (1859-1921). Signed in the plate as well as signed in pencil by the artist.
