FRENCH MEDIEVAL INSTRUMENTS - PAIR OF ENGRAVINGS
French, early 19th century. Total size in mats: 13" h x 16" x (33 cm x 40.5 cm). Total size of prints: 8" h x 11.5" w (20 cm x 29 cm). In very good condition. Both with contemporary manuscript notes at bottom. A former owner has also used a gray pen to lightly shade/color some of the images.A pair of attractive engravings depicting medieval French instruments and historical scenes, evidently taken from an early-nineteenth-century encyclopedia unknown to us (in a contemporary hand at the bottom margins are notes indicating to which pages each numbered instrument/scene corresponds).
